It’s a year ago this week that the club hosted the Eugene Feeney Memorial Scramble. Some 64 members turned out to play in memory of Eugene, who had been a life-long member of County Sligo Golf Club.
I’m not one for making speeches -nor my brother John – and we didn’t get a chance to thank everyone enough for making the day happen. So, with the anniversary upon us, John and I thought it was our chance put that right by saying a huge thank you to everyone involved in the occasion.
Past Captain Joe Keyes was an enthusiastic fan of the idea and smoothed the way in giving it the green light. Aiden Anderson, Brian Feeney and David O’Donovan did most of the heavy lifting in organising the event. Then there was the kind support of Andy Donaghy who organised an on-course barbecue and beers.
Thanks to everyone who made the day such a great success and, obviously, a BIG thanks to all Eugene’s friends who turned out in his honour to play.
November is the month of remembrance. We’re sincerely grateful for the remembrance you showed to our brother, Eugene.
Thanks in his memory,
Mary Feeney and John Feeney,
Lower Rosses.
