Rules Update

December 11, 2020 by declan

Please note the following with immediate effect:

  • Mark clean and place on Fairways (closely mown area). A player may, when playing from the fairway, mark the position of the ball, clean the ball and replace it within 6 inches of its original position but not nearer the hole.

This is a temporary winter rule and will no longer apply when mats are introduced. Diligent use of divot bags will allow the use of mats to be deferred.

  • Local Rule 10 “Limited Relief for Embedded Ball” is now removed and the rules of golf apply.

When a player’s ball is embedded in the general area and relief is allowed under Rule 16.3a, the player may take free relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in this relief area (see Rule 14.3):

It is important to be aware of the definition of an embedded ball, i.e. the ball must be embedded in the soil. A ball lying in heavy grass is NOT deemed to be embedded and free relief is not available.

4th Hole Bomore

The penalty area on the 4th hole in Bomore is now marked with red stakes and lateral relief may be taken within 2 club lengths but not nearer the hole, Rule 17/1d(3).

  • The temporary local rule in relation to ropes and stanchions around the course remains in place.

Enjoy your golf.
