It’s that time of year again when golfing world zooms in on the hallowed links in Rosses Point to see who will be crowned the Kneafsey Cup Champion for 2019. But that’s only half the story: it’s a real test of stamina for the hardy punters who brave the Baltic elements (it always hailstones!), abuse and slagging for the bad shots and the rows over matchsticks in games of 25 afterwards. Not only is it a time to play golf, but it’s a time to meet with old friends, tell stories of growing up in Rosses Point, crab fishing, at trip to Coney, Mrs. Ewing’s shop, that overhead kick you scored in the playground (it was wide really!!!) and all of the other magical experiences of youth. So come along and enjoy a great day out, chat and have the crack with your old friends whether you’re going to play golf or not.
The golf will be 12 holes, shotgun start (one at 9am and one at 12:30pm). The Timesheet is available here: https://tinyurl.com/Neafsey-Cup-2019. Entry Fee is €28 per line: please put money in envelope and names of all players to hand to starters on the day (4 people, Members/ Non-Members same price). There will be Chicken Curry available in the bar from around 2:30pm. Prizegiving will be at 5:30pm.
For the first time, there will also be a Junior Scramble competition at 10am in Bomore over 9 holes giving our current Rosses Point NS pupils a chance to take part in the fun too. To enter a Junior, use the same link as above (https://tinyurl.com/Kneafsey-Cup-2019)
Please try and come along, it’s a guaranteed great day out! (Decks of cards and matches will be supplied in the bar!!)
