Mats/ Winter Rules

December 22, 2021 by declan

A review of course conditions concludes that with softer ground conditions, we need to commence using mats in order to protect our courses. Accordingly, we will start using mats with effect from Friday, December 24th.

Championship Course.

This year on the championship course, we will use mats in the core wear areas designated boxes. The designated boxes will be marked with a closed white line across/ along the fairway and the semi-rough.
–> Mats are to be used within the designated boxes.
–> Outside the boxes the ball will be played as it lies with an optional lift clean and drop available on fairways and green surrounds only.
–> A ball resting on the white line is deemed to be in the designated box.

Bomore Course.
Mats to be used in all fairways and semi-rough. Where a putter is used from off the green the ball may be played off the ground.

The use of mats will be kept under review and will largely depend on weather conditions.
Please repair a few pitch-marks on each green which will help considerably in maintaining the surfaces.
The Links Committee and Course Staff wish all our Members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Terry Brady.
Links chairman.
