The 2019 club fourball final was played in testing windy conditions on Saturday evening 14th September. In the final, Ruairi O’Connor and Dave ‘O Hara took on Tom Higgins and Fergus Lawlor. The match was a tight affair with Ruairi and Dave giving a number of shots to Fergus and Tom. Ruairi and Dave went 1 up after 5 holes when Ruairi sank a birdie putt on 5. Tom got up and down for a great par on the 6th to level the match. The match swung in Tom and Fergus’s favour on the 9th when Fergus managed a great par to go 1 up. Under pressure coming into the back 9, Dave holed a long putt for par on 10 for a half after Ruairi lost his drive. The 11th was halved with bogeys and the match was level again when Ruairi and Dave won the 12th . The 13th proved difficult when no man found the green off the tee, but Ruairi managed a great up and down for par from the back bunker to go 1 up. The 14th was halved and on 15 Dave sunk a 20 footer for par to leave them 2 up with just 3 to play. The 16th was halved and on the 17th Tom brought the match back to just 1 up with a good 5 on the 17th. Needing a win on the 18th to level the match Tom and Fergus conceded when Dave’s par putt hung on the edge of the hole leaving Ruairi and Dave as club fourball champions 2019.
