Round 7 of the DIAGEO Winter League was played on Sunday last.

With two more rounds to play the five qualifiers in each group have yet to be decided.

Section 1 continues to be led by Aidan Tinsley & Aidan Power and Ken Henry & Mark Flanagan with 15 pts after both pairings won their matches. After playing seven rounds any of the top 8 pairs in the group could qualify for the final on Sunday 11th March.

Gary Mc Dermot & Alan Henry secured three points in a tight match against Donal Barry & Michael Hannigan and are leading by two points in Section 2. The Nugent pairing Niall & John had a crucial three point win in their match against Kieran Mc Donagh & Fergal Burke to share joint second with Michael Mc Gowan & David Taylor on 16 pts.

Robert Kelly & Gary Devins remain joint leaders of Section 3 following their win over Dave Murray & Trevor Johnston. Also in the lead are Jackie Mc Mahon & Tony Cunningham who moved up the table after a win over Jim Mulcahy & John Mc Manus.  Back in contention are Michael Whelan & Pat Forkan with a score of 3 up which won the day prize on the main course.

Joint leaders in Section 4 are Michael Mc Namara & John Keane and John Mc Namara & Shane Underwood on 16 pts.  Frank Gleeson & Gerry Cannon who won the day prize on the Bomore course share joint second with Niall Stafford & Anton Murphy on 15 pts.  These four pairings are 5 pts ahead of the rest of the group.

Conor Frazer & Ciaran O’ Gara share the led in Section 5 with Patrick Ward & Tommy Kelly with 15 pts. Shane Flaherty & Jimmy Treacy move into third place on 13 pts following their win over Brian O’ Sullivan & Ronan Keane.
In Section 6 Fergal O’ Flaherty & David Guinness remain top of the table on 16 pts after their draw with David Conneely & Derek Wynne. Padraig Mc Manus & Vincent Mc Gee and John Mc Hugh & Aidan Doyle won their matches and remain in joint second position on 15 pts. 

Next Round of the DIAGEO Winter League is Sunday 5th February.
