Bomore Day Prize Winner-Anton Murphy & Niall Stafford 5 Up.

Donal Smyth beat Tommy Cummins on the last six to win the Saturday V Par competition which was played in extreme weather conditions.

The final qualifying round of the DIAGEO Winter League was played on Sunday. A total of 270 matches were played over nine rounds before the thirty qualifiers i.e. five pairings from each section were decided. The final of the DIAGEO Winter League will be played on Sunday 11th March. A separate 18 hole competition will also be played on the final day for non-qualifiers.

Section 1 Ger Quinlivan & John Feeney won this section. The other qualifiers in the group are Aidan Tinsley & Aidan Power; .Kenneth Henry & Mark Flanagan ; Garth McManus & David Connolly and Tom Kenny & Bryan Kilfeather.
The winners of Section 2 are Gary McDermott & Alan Henry who also won the main course day prize. Simon Rooney & Roddy Gaynor beat Kieran McDonagh & Fergal Burke to qualify. Donal Barry & Michael Hannigan ; Niall & John Nugent and Michael McGowan & Dave Taylor were the other qualifiers in the group.

Rob Kelly & Gary Devins won Section 3 on 21 points. Jackie McMahon & Tony Cunningham were second on 18 points. Glen Nairn & Ruairi O’Connor were joint third with Brian Feeney & Pat Neiland.  A win for Jim Mulcahy & John McManus gave them the fifth qualifying place.
John McNamara & Shane Underwood won their match and were the winners of Section 4 on 22 points. Anton Murphy & Niall Stafford were second on 21 pts. Frank Gleeson & Gerry Cannon and Michael McNamara & John Keane secured third and fourth place respectively. A win for the father and son combination of Pat & Tom Heelan secured them a qualifying place in the final.

Section 5 was won by Brian O’Sullivan & Ronan Keane on 18 points. Conor Frazer & Ciaran O’Gara came second. Shane Flaherty & Jimmy Tracey and Brian Hampson & Eric Gilroy won their matches to qualify. Patrick Ward & Tommy Kelly lost their match but managed to qualify.

John Mc Hugh & Aidan Doyle won Section 6 on 21 points beating Padraig McManus & Vincent McGee, who finished fourth. Fergal O’Flaherty & David McGuinness and Keith McLoughlin & Tony Leonard finished on 17 points while David Conneely & Derek Wynne picked up three points to edge Karol Butler & Gerard Sproule for the fifth qualifying place.
