It's a fact that most golfers are using clubs that don't suit them. In my experience 9 out of 10 golfers are using clubs that are not exactly right for them. Often it's because they don't have the right flex or length of shaft, or they need more loft on their driver. However by fitting clubs to the individual, we can help you hit the ball longer and straighter.
I can remember as an assistant, the first Pro that I worked for got a brand new shiny set of clubs at the start of the year. Straight away he had placed them in a vice changing their loft and lie, then the file was out to change the leading edge and square up the toe! That was in 1977, so professionals were aware of custom fitting then, but it wasn't until the mid 90's that Ping started to do the custom fitting carts.
Nowadays, Ping are still at the forefront as far as custom fitting is concerned. It is interesting to note that they are the only company in golf that have their own foundry and are totally in control of the manufacture of their own club heads.
"It's true to say that the most expensive set of clubs you will ever buy are the ones that don't suit you."
To book a fitting appointment please contact the Pro shop, fitting usually take around 30 minutes.
Static Fit: When you arrive at your appointed time we will ask you questions about your game and then we take measurements of your height, wrist to ground, size of hand etc.. Out of the cart that contains 36 seven irons we will select 6 or 7 that we think might be close to being right for you.
Dynamic Fit: Now we go onto the practice ground and take measurements when you are actually hitting the ball and we can see the ball flight. From this we are able to determine the correct lie, loft, shaft, length, grip type and size.
We prefer to sell you clubs that will enhance your game so we don't charge anything for this service. To get clubs that will suit you, go ahead and book a custom fit today.

At County Sligo Golf Club we are very proud of the strength and success of our Junior Section. Junior beginners from 7-12 years are coached in group classes under the banner of Junior Golf Ireland, although individual lessons or small groups for this age group can always be arranged. When the young golfers are members and actively taking part in junior competitions, group lessons are then organised by the Junior Convenor.
