David and Serryth qualify
Congratulations to David Brady and Serryth Heavey who both got through Wednesday’s qualifier for the West of Ireland Championship.
David was the leading qualifier with a 69 to join his brother Stephen in the competition beginning Good Friday. Five players had scores of 73 or less to qualify. Another seven on 74 went into a sudden death playoff for the remaining three places.
One of those in the shoot-out was Serryth Heavey. Two players dropped out after the first sudden death hole; all scored pars at the next to move on to the third where Serryth was the first to grab one of the three qualifying places by being the only person to manage a par.
Well done to David and Serryth. They join Gary McDermott, Sean Flanagan, Steffan O’Hara, Stephen Brady and Declan Reidy in the frame for this year’s West.
